Pair your Chief account with Live Session

Connect your macOS Live Session app to your Chief account so you can start capturing meetings and generating real-time intelligence.

Overview

Pairing links your Live Session desktop app to your Chief account in the web app.

This allows the macOS app to stream audio from your device and sync live meeting intelligence directly into your workspace.

You only need to pair once per device.

Step 1: Open the app and get started

Open the Live Session app on your Mac.

On first launch, you will be prompted to:

  • Review and accept the Terms of Use

  • Confirm system requirements

  • Click Let’s get started to continue

This initializes the app and prepares it for setup.

Step 2: Grant system permissions

To enable Live Session, you must allow macOS permissions.

You will be prompted to allow:

  • Microphone access (for your voice)

  • System audio access (for meeting participants)

  • System settings permissions required for audio capture

These permissions are required for Live Session to listen and generate real-time insights.

Step 3: Generate a pairing code

In the Chief web app:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Open Devices

  3. Click Generate Pairing Code

  4. Copy the 6-character code shown

This code links your desktop app to your Chief workspace.

Step 4: Connect your device

In the macOS Live Session app:

  1. Paste the pairing code into the input field

  2. Confirm connection

Once successful, your Live Session app will be linked to your Chief account.

Step 5: Confirm setup

After pairing is complete:

  • The macOS app will show an active connection state

  • Your device will appear under Devices in Chief settings

  • You are ready to start a Live Session

Troubleshooting

Login mismatch

Make sure you are logged into the same Chief account on both the macOS app and web app.

No audio capture

Check that system permissions are enabled for:

  • Microphone

  • Screen and system audio access

You may need to restart the app after granting permissions.

Pairing code not working

  • Ensure the code is copied exactly as shown

  • Generate a new code if the previous one expires

  • Refresh the Devices page if needed
